Dartington Cider Press Centre

A wonderful initiative which began in 1925 when Dorothy and Leonard Elmhirst converted Dartington Hall, an ancient estate, into a base for a range of environmental and educational projects. Together they created a College of Arts, the Dartington International Summer School of Music, a textile mill and of course Dartington Cider. Their estate passed into the hands of the Dartington Trust who continue to manage funds in the spirit of their beneficiaries. Cider is no longer made on the premises but has been replaced with a retail centre selling a range of crafts, fine foods, books, toys and Dartington Crystal. All profits from these endeavours are used to fund charitable projects and initiatives. A range music, dance, film and theatre performances are also held throughout the year at Dartington Hall.
