Torcross Memorial Tank

Situated in the car park, the Torcross Memorial Tank is a Sherman Duplex Drive Tank which sank during the disastrous turn of Operation Tiger held at Slapton Sands Beach. It was resurrected from the sea through the efforts of a Torcross hotelier, Ken Small. After a long negotiation process, Mr Small managed to buy the tank from the US for $50. It now stands as a tribute to those who lost their lives at Torcross in WWII.
