    Daphne du Maurier Literary Festival

A yearly event in the 2nd and 3rd weeks of May, the Daphne du Maurier Festival is set in the lovely Fowey Port. Always proud of its literary hero, Fowey celebrates its Daphne du Maurier connection with a range of festivities from drama, music and art to guided walks, lectures and concerts. The du Maurier family home still lies on Ferryside but it was Menabilly (which she once rented), a ghostly mansion that found its way into Rebecca with the opening line, "Last night i dreamt i went to Manderley" . If you miss the festival but would like to find out more about her relationship with Fowey, you can take a Daphne du Maurier Guided Walk conducted by the Blue Badge Guides or take a tour on the Daphne du Maurier open top bus service. Find out more about these tours at the Fowey Tourist Information Centre
