Whilst residing in Devonport in 1969-70, we stumbled across The Highwayman one day. Found it absolutely fascinating. My English (Sx) husband was use to such curiosities, but not my Canadian self. We returned many times, plus told fellow RN mates about the pub, before we left the UK for Can. in 1970. Upon subsquent trips back to Devon over the years, we've made sure we paid a visit to The Highwayman. Our daughter loved it (1989 trip) and still talks about it. I'm going to send her this URL, so her husband can see what she is on about. Still a fascinating place!
