Conwy is the only town in the United Kingdom that has retained its original town walls. As you can see from the photo, access to the town and castle was further protected by towers. There are 21 of these horse-shaped buildings as well as three original gateways. You can walk along the top of these (but you might want to give it a miss if you suffer from vertigo!).
